Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween is this Wednesday so I’d like to share some Safety Tips from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children.

1.)    Children should never trick or treat alone

2.)    Only go to houses of people you know and are well lit

3.)    Never go inside of someone’s home without parental permission

4.)    Never approach a vehicle without a parent or guardian present

5.)    Make sure your children wear reflective clothing and carry a flashlight or glow stick when out after dark

6.)    Make sure your child’s costume allows them to breathe properly and are flame resistant

7.)    Report any suspicious or unusual incidents to law enforcement

Many of our communities, churches and other organizations in Cherokee County also organize safe alternatives to door-to-door trick or treating such as SAFE Walks or other events.  Parents are encouraged to take advantage of these, if possible.

As always, if I, or the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office can be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
