Pittsburg Homicide Suspect Arrested in Weir

On Sunday, May 23rd, 2010, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office learned that the Pittsburg Police Department had developed several suspects in connection with a homicide they began investigating on Friday, May 21st. 

One of the suspect was alleged to be at a Weir, Kansas home.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsburg Police Department, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol and the Weir Police Department conducted several hours of surveillance on the home, and at 4:41 p.m., after confirming the suspect was in the residence, officers moved in and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect has been identified as 26 year-old, Robert E. Eastman Jr., of 301 East Wood Street, Weir.

Eastman is being held in the Cherokee County Jail.

Charges of first degree murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and aggravated robbery have been filed in Crawford County.
