School District and Sheriff's Office Team Up On Project

11/30/2010

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Unified School District # 493, Columbus, is pleased to announce the completion of a joint project, geared towards making area students and school campuses safer.

For several months, the administration at U.S.D. # 493 has been working with the Sheriff’s Office in an effort to install surveillance cameras at their 4 Columbus Campuses and the District Transportation Building.

The equipment has since been installed, and over $21,000.00 is being provided for the project by a United States Department of Justice Grant, that was secured by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

This system provides another tool, which will enable school administrators to more efficiently monitor activities on their respective campuses.
