01/13/2011
On Tuesday afternoon, a resident returned to his rural Cherokee County home, to discover that someone had forced entry into the house and stole numerous items.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began an investigation.
During the course of that investigation, deputies developed 39 year-old, Phillip Cunningham, as a suspect.
Later that day, with assistance from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Cunningham was located at his Pittsburg home and taken into custody.
During the arrest, some of the stolen property was recovered, with additional property being recovered on Wednesday at an area pawn shop.
Cunningham remains in custody in the Cherokee County Jail in lieu of $15,000.00 bond. He was formally charged in Cherokee County District Court today with Burglary, Felony Theft, and Criminal Damage to Property.
