Tuesday Blizzard Update

02/01/2011

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Emergency Operations Center has been activated since late last night (Monday) in order to prepare for the current blizzard conditions.

Emergency crews have already responded to numerous incidents of vehicles sliding off the roadways.

Everyone is encouraged to stay off the roadways.  With the snow falling as fast as it is, and potentially lasting until 9:00 p.m., it is simply not safe to be on the roads.

Emergency responders and road crews are working hard, but the conditions are hindering their efforts and responses, as well.

Again, the best advice is to not be on the roads.

At this time, there have been no power outage reports in Cherokee County.

If you experience a power outage, you should contact your utility company.

To report storm related property damage, contact the Cherokee County Office of Emergency Management @ 620-429-1857 or 620-429-3256.
