The Cherokee County Office of Emergency Management held an event briefing this morning at 10:00 a.m.

During the briefing, it was noted that continuing concerns remain the cold temperatures and the treacherous road conditions.

While the Kansas Department of Transportation has made progress on main state highways, they continue to be snow packed, slick and dangerous.

In addition, one main concern is the snow that has been plowed from the highway now creates a hazard for motorists trying to turn off of the highway.

Residents should continue to stay off the roadways as state, county and local crews work to make them passable.
