Two Facing Charges Following Theft

On June 14th, 2011, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the theft of farm equipment from the northwest part of the county.
During the course of the investigation, Patrick Colston and Kevin Brown were identified as suspects and were arrested by Cherokee County Deputies on June 15th, 2011.
Colston, 29, of Columbus, is being held in lieu of $31,500.00 bond on allegations of committing three counts of burglary, three counts of felony theft and three counts of felony criminal damage to property.
Brown, 36 years old, of Kansas City, Kansas, posted $2,000.00 bond after being arrested on allegations of theft.
As the investigation developed, deputies obtained search warrants for homes located at 117 North Minnesota Avenue and 304 West Walnut, both in Columbus.
During those searches, officers located and recovered suspected stolen property.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are possible.
