2 Arrested in Burglary Plot

Just before 5:00 p.m. on May 18th, 2012, a resident returned to his rural Columbus home to find a male fleeing from his property, get into the passenger side of a car parked along-side the road and take off.
The homeowner followed the suspects to a residence in Chetopa.
Law enforcement officers from Chetopa and Cherokee County arrived and one of the suspects were arrested on narcotics related charges. The other suspect had fled prior to law enforcements arrival.
The rural Columbus resident returned to his home to discover damage to his door, where an attempt to pry it open in an apparent burglary had occurred.
Cherokee County Sheriff’s Officers continued with their investigation and sought criminal charges on the two suspects.
Those charges were filed in Cherokee County District Court and arrest warrants were issued.
On May 31, 2012, Joshua A. Noble, 30, of Chetopa was arrested on charges of Attempted Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property. Noble posted $10,000.00 bail and was released.
On June 5th, 2012, Lee William Wolfe, 30, also of Chetopa was arrested on charges of Aiding and Abetting in an Attempted Burglary. He remains in the Cherokee County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.
Wolfe is also being held on a hold placed by the Kansas Department of Corrections for a parole violation.
