09/29/2012

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office conducted a Drug Take Back Event on Saturday, September 29th, 2012, in conjunction with a nationwide effort coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Three collection sites were established from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, one each in Baxter Springs, Columbus and Galena.

During that time, deputies collected 104 pounds of unused, expired and / or unwanted prescription medications.

This program remains successful and has resulted in over 600 pounds of prescription medications collected in Cherokee County alone since the start of the Drug Take Back Effort.
