On Thursday, November 15^th, 2012, Sheriff David Groves was presented with the 2012 AAA Gold Award in Community Traffic Safety from AAA Executive Vice President James R. Hanni.

The presentation took place in Hutchinson, Kansas in conjunction with the Kansas Sheriff’s Association’s annual fall conference. 

In presenting the award, Hanni recognized the successful results from programs implemented by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, such as S.A.F.E., Step Enforcement Programs, DUI checklanes, and efforts made to educate young drivers about potential dangers by coordinating mock accidents and participating in school safety assembly’s.

This is the second consecutive year that the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has received the Gold Award.
