LIVINGSTON AND GANDY ARRESTED

Just before 11:00 Thursday morning, investigators attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by fugitives James Joseph Livingston and Carlos Blake Gandy.  The vehicle stopped near Southeast 76th and Robin Lane in the Riverton area where the suspects fled on foot.

To contain the suspects, additional resources –including K-9’s and a helicopter - were utilized to establish a perimeter and continue the search.

At approximately 1:40 p.m., the suspects were located on an island in Spring River, near the Empire Electric Plant, and were taken into custody.

Gandy was assessed by Cherokee County EMS at the scene after sustaining a bite from a police K-9.

Authorities have been searching for the two suspects following an incident on December 1st, which led to an Attempted First Degree Murder warrant being issued for Livingston and an Aggravated Battery warrant being issued for Gandy.

Both suspects have been transported to the Cherokee County Jail where Livingston is held on $125,000.00 cash / surety bond and Gandy’s bond has been set at $30,000.00 cash / surety.

In addition to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, the following agencies participated in Thursday’s search: Baxter Springs Police Department, Galena Police Department, Quapaw Tribal Marshal’s, Kansas Highway Patrol, Missouri Highway Patrol, Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
