The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents of some basic steps towards protecting items they may have received over the Christmas Holiday.  As you set your trash out for pick up, please remember that large boxes only serve as a display of items inside your home.  Consider breaking those boxes down or recycling them instead of putting them out with household trash. 

Also, law enforcement encourages citizens to take a picture (even with your cell phone) of new items, such as firearms, electronics and jewelry.  If a serial number is on the item, make sure to capture that, as well.  Should your items be stolen in the future, providing that picture to law enforcement will significantly aid them in recovering it.
