Duo Arrested for Burglary and Drug Crimes

Two Neosho Missouri residents are behind bars after the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office arrested them on multiple allegations, including burglary and drug possession, Monday afternoon.

After a passerby saw a vehicle sitting at an abandoned residence east of Baxter Springs, deputies responded to find 24 year-old Christina Michelle Stevens and 30 year-old Clifford Potts Jr. still at the property.

During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered items which had been allegedly stolen from inside the home, along with suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, in the suspects’ vehicle.

“This is an excellent example of residents watching out for one another, reporting suspicious activity to law enforcement, and suspected thieves being apprehended before they even have a chance to leave with the stolen property,” stated Cherokee County Sheriff David Groves.

Both suspects are currently being held in the Cherokee County Jail in lieu of $17,000.00 bond on allegations of Residential Burglary, Theft, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Formal charges are expected to be filed by the Cherokee County Attorney’s Office later today.
