Information Sought on Fence Cutters

Information Sought on Fence Cuttings Northeast of Columbus

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several reports of someone cutting barbed wire fences northeast of Columbus over the past couple of months.

“The intentional cutting of these fences are not only criminal acts, but can result in livestock getting onto the road, causing a serious crash,” according to Sheriff David Groves.

Several organizations, including insurance companies and livestock associations, offer rewards for information leading to the conviction of those responsible for damaging their member’s property.

“We are asking that anyone with information about who is cutting these fences, contact our office at 620-429-3992 or text your tip to 888777.  Enter the phone number then in the message type tip Cherokee followed by the information you wish to provide,” concluded Sheriff Groves.
