Labor Day Warning- You Drink. You Drive. You Lose.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office will be joining law enforcement partners from across the state and region now through Labor Day, September 2, in the You Drink. You  Drive. You Lose. enforcement campaign.

The campaign aims to keep motorists and families safe during the Labor Day Holiday period.

"With Labor Day travel across the country expected to reach a record breaking high this year, projected at a 9% increase over last year, law enforcement wants to ensure families stay safe, whether traveling a long distance for the final holiday of summer, or travelling locally," stated Cherokee County Chief Deputy Nate Jones in announcing the agency participation of the campaign.

"With an increase in motorists on roadways also comes an increase in potential for traffic crashes, which is why law enforcement will be focusing efforts on locating and removing those who choose to drive while impaired - whether by alcohol or drugs - from our highways, county roads and city streets.  Our objective it two-fold. First, to encourage drivers to make the safe choice of not getting behind the wheel if they are impaired and second, to make sure everyone traveling is able to get to their destination safely," concluded Jones.
